Day Six - Dubrovnik, Croatia

Pictures from the balcony coming into the harbour.

And the first thing we did was to buy tickets to walk around the wall of the city.  Here's the views from the wall ...

See the top of the hill?  We're going there after we walk around the interior of the walls.

There were four cruise ships in total, including ours, in Dubrovnik that day.

Looking straight down from one of the walls, we could see a restaurant/patio lounge.

Looking straight down the wall again, the restaurant / lounge is at the upper part of the picture.

There was a party going on - musicians, dancing, but didn't see a bride or groom.

Close up from the picture above.  This is the landing right before climbing the stairs to the highest lookout.

The streets of inside the wall of Dubrovnik.  Look how shiny the stones are from being walked on over millenia!

At Rector's Palace!!!

You can just barely see Dan to the right of the middle column.  This place was huge!

And Dan made a friend!

The door knocker on the Palace door.

I guess this was the main square inside the walls - tons of vendors.
I think at one point this would have been the well for the town - now it's just a monument where tourists hang out.

And then we rode the cable car up to the top of the hill where there was an observatory and a cafe.
At the observation level.

Relaxing at the cafe at the top of the cable car - you could see for miles and miles and the cafe boasts it's the best vie

After the cable car adventure, we walked back to the old town to catch the shuttle bus back to the ship.

The route to from the ship to the old town was interesting, especially when you see the narrow streets and the large coach buses!

Dan saw this bike on the pier as we walked along ...

This is another cruise ship leaving - if you look to the right, you'll see our ship - it was so much smaller than the other cruise ships we came across!

The next morning as we sailed for Split, we saw this building.  It's ancient and made out of some material that glows gold when the sunrise hits it.  Beautiful!

And that ends our visit to Dubrovnik!
