Day Seven - Split, Croatia

A picture of our cruise ship (left) and another one to the right.  On the other side of the pier was someone's personal yacht.

The entrance into the old town (surrounded by a fortress wall).

Street scene inside Split.

One of many tunnels leading from one street or alleyway to another.

Just a neat picture of plants growing from the rocks.

This was above an intersection of streets/alleyways.  Straight up was an opening in the walls.

Dan and I were stopped here by a local news crew.  They wanted to know why we would visit Split during the off-tourist season.  We weren't quick enough to grab a photo of us being interviewed.

Very narrow street!  And notice the polished stone again - millenia of people walking on it.

I thought these were neat - not quite gargoyles.

This is a statue of a monk who was one of the founding brothers of the monestary.  It's made of brass and the legend is, if you rub his toe, you will have good luck.  That toe is very bright and shiny!

Another neat tunnel.

A typical street scene leading to people's homes.

A view from our balcony.
