Alison Krauss and Union Station

Dan and I went to see Alison Krauss and Union Station last night.  Special guest was Jerry Douglas.  The singing was amazing, the harmonizing was wonderful, and they played longer than any other band I've seen in concert for a long time.

The lead male singer in Union Station - Dan Tyminski was great!  Apparently he was the voice double for George Clooney in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"  Ron Block played the banjo and a variety of guitars and mandolins - and has a great voice, too.  The big cello bass player Barry Bales was also amazing!  And Alison sang a song he wrote which was beautiful.

I was apparently the only person in the audience who wasn't a hard core blue grass fan.  I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the music, but didn't know a single song they sung the whole night during the first part of the concert.  Then they left the stage and everyone was on their feet for an encore.  Then Alison, Dan and Ron came out for Alison to sing "When You Say Nothing At All" which is the only song I know of hers, and I waited two hours to hear it!  Awesome, though.

Again, we were only 8 rows back on the floor, but the blackberry camera makes it look like we were way at the back.  Here's a picture of her singing WYSNAA.  The other pictures were too blurry to post here.
