We stayed at the Silver Creek Lodge. It looked really nice; granite countertops, spa-like bathroom. But even though it looked nice, it wasn't very functional for us. I'll put a review on Trip Advisor. The Silver Creek Lodge is associated with the Georgetown Inn, so we went there for breakfast on Saturday. Food was good and the prices even better! If you're in Canmore looking for somewhere to go for breakfast (and not McD's or Tim's) then go to the Georgetown Inn.
On Saturday, we went to the evening event - here's some pictures while we waited in line to get inside - the sun was shining so bright! It was spectacular - you can still see some snow on the ground.
Once we got inside, we bought our tickets for beer tasting, and the passport for the Iron Chef baby back ribs competition. There were seven restaurants competing, and I can't remember them all, but I remember Marley's was good, and so was Zona's.
My favourite beer was Tree Brewing from Kelowna. Kelowna of all places! Where they make the great wines!
At one point in the evening, Dan and I decided to slip into Stoney's - the bar and grill on site, just to get away from the crowds. And who does he run into? A guy he worked with at General Dynamics. Mike was there with his wife Wendy, and Wendy's sister and brother-in-law, and Wendy's business partner. It was great to see them again. Here's a picture of Dan and Mike while we were sitting around and chatting.
We bid on a few items at the silent auction, and only won one - the six tickets to next year's Beer Fest. I'm sure we'll be able to find two other couples to join us!
After the event closed at 9:00 am, there was a party at the Georgetown Inn - so we went there. Had a great time, then back to our own hotel.
Sunday morning came way too early, and off we went home. Put some things away, did some housekeeping, then off to visit with our neighbours Phil and Dianne for happy hour. They're back from four months in Arizona, just outside of Yuma and had a lot of pictures to share. Great pictures, too!
Have a great week, everyone!
