Back from Kobalt 400 and Back to Work

Our weekend in Las Vegas was great.  Got to the hotel around noon, and we were able to get our room right away.  Did a lot of walking around that afternoon, and that's when the blisters started.

Saturday morning we caught the bus to the track (through Nellis air force base) and walked through the Neon Garage, and watched Mark Martin win the Nationwide race.  Great racing!  Danica Patrick did really well, too.  Nice to see that she's matured as a Nascar driver.  The Neon Garage was great - Dan was able to get autographs of both John Force and Handsome Harry Gant (who, by the way, is extremely handsome!) as well as some pictures.  Will post those later on.

Yes, it's Kid Rock!  He was there!

Saturday evening we stuck close to the hotel and won a few sheckles at the Casino.  We called it an early night - two solid days of sunshine, warm weather and fresh air had us beat!

On Sunday, I took my knitting to the track, so I could knit some of the sock there - that way I could legitimately call the socks LVMS socks - picture to come soon.

Sunday's race was great.  Won by Carl Edwards, even though Tony Stewart dominated for most of the race.  Good racing by everyone - no big pile ups, which is nice to NOT see!  We were shocked, though, at the reaction from the crowd whenever Kyle Bush was knocked, bumped or pushed.  And in Sunday's race when he was out of the race because of an engine fire, the crowd was cheering!  Really cheering!

It seems everyone still remembers or thinks of Bush as the whining, snivelling prima donna of the past.  You can really see the influence of Joe Gibbs on the boy - that's a great gift Joe has - wish others could see the efforts that Joe makes and give his proteges a chance to show off Joe's good work.

Sunday evening was also spent close to the hotel, as the blisters hadn't quite healed yet.

Monday was good - took The Deuce to the Fremont Street Experience, had a good lunch buffet at the Fremont Casino, and from there a $10 cab ride to the Premium Outlets mall.

By the way, what's up with the extra $3 every cab ride in Las Vegas charges?  That really irks me - I can see a percentage of all cab rides, but a flat fee of $3 is excessive!

We got back from Las Vegas very late last night, almost early this morning.  By the time we got home, unpacked a few essentials for the morning, it was about 1 am.

Naturally, my internal clock wouldn't allow me to sleep past 5:00 am, and neither would Buster!  He was walking all over the bed trying to wake us up to play!

Lots to catch up on at work - even though it was only two days out of the office, the emails sure pile up.  And lots of things to take care of.

Bye for now - but will be back editing this post with pictures!

  1. Hey - in your profile you forgot to say that you have one fantastic sister who you don't see nearly often enough!

  2. I see you're from Calgary. One of my favorite cities! Awesome pic with Dale Sr. and isn't John Force a hoot? Go to the pits at a NHRA race sometime, the drivers are so accessible.

  3. Hi Tinkknitz!
My husband was at the Gatornationals last year and he said that I definitely have to get to an NHRA race, just to feel the engines! He has a ton of pictures with all the drivers, to - Garlitz, and a ton of others. He finally met Don Prudhomme early this year, too - Dan's one of his biggest fans!
